Itinerary

Arrive in Bozeman

Welcome to Bozeman, Montana, a historic gateway town on the edge of forest and mountain wilderness. An MT Sobek representative will arrange a transfer from the airport to the Lark Hotel. Join the orientation at 6pm, then enjoy a welcome dinner at Ted's Montana Grill on Main Street.

Explore Madison Buffalo Jump State Park & Gallatin Mountains

After breakfast, depart Bozeman by van and head to Madison Buffalo Jump State Park (a 40-minute drive) that was used by Native Americans for 2,000 years. Tour the Native American hunting site, exploring their survival techniques in the Stone Age. Head toward the world-famous Chico Hot Springs via the old stage coach trail, stopping for a hike in the Gallatin Mountains. Upon arriving at Chico, enjoy time to explore the resort and surrounding countryside. Bring your swimsuit for a dip in the curative mineral waters, and enjoy dinner at the resort.

Take a Hiking Safari in Yellowstone’s Lamar Valley

Wake early for a 45-minute drive to Yellowstone National Park. Begin the exploration of Yellowstone with a hiking safari in the Lamar Valley, known as the Serengeti of North America for its wildlife herds and striking views. In the afternoon, head to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone to view the Lower Falls from Artist's Point and take an exploratory canyon trail toward Sublime Point. In the evening, travel via the West Entrance and up to Big Sky Resort, for a stay and dinner at Buck's T-4 Lodge.

Trek in Wild Yellowstone

Begin the day with a short half-hour drive to the quietest section of Yellowstone for an off-the-beaten-path canyon trek. Hike up Specimen Creek to Specimen Creek Meadows and beyond. Be immersed in wild Yellowstone, home to the rarest animals in the park, like moose and grizzly bears. In the mid-afternoon, return to Buck's T-4 Lodge for a couple of hours, to unwind or hike more near Big Sky before dinner.

See Grand Prismatic Spring & Old Faithful En Route to Grand Teton

After breakfast, begin the 3-hour journey south to Grand Teton National Park. The first stop is to hike the geyser basins, with half of the world's geysers. En route see Grand Prismatic Springs, Old Faithful, and hundreds of other geysers and hot springs — a true Technicolor wonderland! In the afternoon, venture off the beaten trail into Shoshone Lake. If time allows, reach the lake or else turn around in a beautiful meadow system halfway. Continue on to Grand Teton National Park, for a stay and dinner at Jackson Lake Lodge.

Hike to Taggart Lake & Float the Snake River

This morning, enjoy a ranger-led hike to beautiful Taggart Lake with views of the Tetons, then take a 1-hour drive to Jackson Hole, to tour the National Wildlife Museum. Feast on lunch at The Local, a contemporary chophouse on the town square, and soak up Jackson's western mountain-town vibe. On the drive back, take in photo ops such as the Ansel Adams overlook of the Snake River and Mount Moran. Finish with a float on the Snake River through Grand Teton National Park, and a steak cook-out on the river.

Depart from Jackson Hole

Enjoy a farewell breakfast in the Mural Room overlooking the Tetons before transferring to Jackson Hole Airport for homeward-bound or onward flights.
