Itinerary
DAY 01: AHMEDABAD ARRIVAL
Upon arrival in Ahmedabad, you will be welcomed by GeTS Holidays representative who will help you with your transfer to the pre-booked hotel. Check-in at the hotel and relax. Spend rest of the day at leisure. Nicknamed the “The Manchester of India”, the city of Ahmedabad wins over visitors with booming textile industry and its amazing wealth of architecture. The largest city of Gujarat and the 7th largest urban agglomeration in India, Ahmedabad served as the capital of the state from 1960 to 1970, before becoming the administrative capital of the Ahmedabad district. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 02: AHMEDABAD TO PATAN [APPROX. 03 HRS DRIVE]; PATAN TO MODHERA [APPROX. 01 HRS DRIVE]; MODHERA TO DASADA/BAJANA [APPROX. 01 HRS DRIVE]
After breakfast you will be driven to Patan. Reach Patan to experience India’s rich and ancient heritage in fine textiles. The region of Patan, known for Double Ikkat (Patola) glorifies this heritage of the country. Get to know the art of Double Ikkat, the weaving technique that dates back to centuries. Also visit the Rani-ki-Vav (UNESCO World Heritage Site) – a stepwell in Patan. A perfect exemplar of the subterranean architecture, the stepwell was built by Rani Udayamati of the Solanki dynasty around 1304 AD, in honour of her late husband Bhima I (r. c. 1022–1064). Proceed towards Modhera, home to the famous sun temple. Made in honour of the Hindu Sun God, Surya, the temple was built after 1026-27 CE during the reign of Bhima I of the Chaulukya dynasty. Afterwards, make your way towards Dasada/Bajana. Reach Dasada/Bajana and check-into hotel. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 03: BAJANA TO DHORDO [RANN UTSAV]
After breakfast the tent city for the Rann Utsav. Check into your pre-booked tent and relax. Later, have lunch and then spend rest of the time at leisure. Kutch is far-famed for its beautiful handicrafts including include terracotta, patchwork and embroidered items. You can enjoy shopping for some amazingly crafted handicrafts. In the evening, have tea and snacks. After dinner, get ready for some cultural programs held within the camping site. Overnight stay at the camp.
DAY 04: IN RANN UTSAV
Start your morning with a great breakfast. Then, set-out and explore the beauty of Kutch during the Rann Utsav. The Rann Utsav is the time when the white desert recedes and turns into nature’s masterpiece. The three-month-long festival celebrates the uniqueness of the world’s largest salt desert that transforms into a surreal landscape under moonlight. From folk dance performances to scrumptious Gujarati cuisine, camel safaris to folk dramas, the Rann Utsav is a one-of-its-kind extravaganza. Also kept on display is the magnificent Kutch art and craft like rogan art, rabari embroidery, and the mirror work fabrics. Moreover, for adventure lovers there are activities like Para Motoring, hot air balloon ride, ATV ride, and Rifle Shooting. You can even enjoy a short trip to the Indo-Pak Border. Later, in the evening enjoy some local folk dance performances. Overnight stay at the tented camp at Dhordo.
DAY 05: DHORDO TO MANDVI [APPROX. 03 HRS DRIVE]
After breakfast check-out for Mandvi. Upon arrival in Mandvi, check into your pre-booked hotel and relax. After some time set off for some exploration in Mandvi. Visit the famous points of interest like the Vijay Vilas Palace – a famous palace built in Rajputana architectural style. Also visit the ship-building yard. Later, get back to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 06: MANDVI TO AHMEDABAD [APPROX. 08 HRS DRIVE]
After breakfast depart for Ahmedabad; in time transfer to Airport / Railway Station to board flight / train for your journey to your next destination.
