Botswana Epic Family Safari
Maun, Botswana
Itinerary
Arrive in Botswana & Fly to the Okavango Delta
Arrive at Maun airport and meet your MT Sobek representative who will assist your family with the charter flight into the heart of the Okavango Delta. Upon arrival at Camp Okavango, your home for two nights, meet the Safari host, a dedicated staff member who plans your stay, activities, meals times, in-camp activities, and story times.
Explore the Okavango Delta
Today explore the magical water world of the Delta with a variety of guided private activities. Take a nature walk, explore the tranquil waterways by mokoro canoe or motorboat, head out for exceptional birdwatching, or go fishing for bream and tiger fish (if the season is right).
Discover the Moremi Game Reserve
Today move on by 4X4 vehicle to Moremi Game Reserve, where the life-giving waters of the Okavango Delta meet the vast plains of the Kalahari Desert. Discover this wildlife-rich sanctuary of mopane forests, open grasslands, seasonal floodplains, and riverine habitats. Upon checking in at Camp Moremi, meet your "Safari Host" who is there to plan your stay, activities, meals times, in-camp activities, and story times.
Marvel at the Moremi Game Reserve
Donated by the Batawana tribe, Moremi Game Reserve is one of the most magnificent and welcoming animal environments in all of Africa. Spend the day discovering this wildlife-rich paradise on a variety of private activities with your guide. In the morning and in the afternoon, head out on open 4X4 safari drives to track big game. Explore the Xakanaxa Lagoon and the surrounding Okavango channels by motorboat.
Find the Fabled “Stolen River”
Today travel by 4X4 vehicle to the Savute Channel, Botswana's fabled "Stolen River" which stretches from the Linyanti River all the way to the Savute Marsh with its winding waterways. This fickle and unpredictable channel in Chobe National Park has a fascinating history of flooding and drying up independently of good rainy seasons and flood levels elsewhere — a mystery that has intrigued geologists and researchers. Check in at Savute Safari Lodge, meet your Safari Host, and head out on one of the guided activities.
Spot Wildlife in Chobe National Park
This wild and remote corner of Chobe National Park is renowned for its population of bull elephant and for the unique interaction of the resident predator species. Look out for these wildlife spectacles on private game drives in open 4X4 safari vehicles. Another possible excursion is a visit to the ancient San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills, a small hilly outcrop which forms a remarkable landmark in the otherwise flat landscape.
See the Elephant Herds of Chobe National Park
Today's destination is another area of Chobe National Park, home to the most incredible herds of elephant on the planet. With its northern boundary along the Chobe River, the park's riverfront features one of Africa's most impressive safari experiences. Upon arriving to Chobe Game Lodge, meet your Safari Host, who will help plan your stay and ensure it is unforgettable.
Walk the “Chobe Deck of Fame”
Don't miss taking the elevated boardwalk that leads from the lodge along the river to the "Chobe Deck of Fame," overlooking Water Cart. These vast floodplains are visited by hundreds of elephants at certain times of the year — one of the world's best elephant viewing experiences. Head out on privately guided activities — both game drives and boat cruises depart three times daily. You may be able to experience a drive in an electric 4X4 safari vehicle and a ride on a fully solar- or electric-powered boat. Gather for a farewell dinner tonight.
Say Goodbye to Botswana
After a final safari activity this morning, transfer by light aircraft to Maun airport, where you board your departing flight home.
