An Un-Guilty Pleasure: Earth Porn Volume 1
It's great to see someone call it what it is – Christiaan Welzel's “Earth Porn,” Volume 1, exposes the saturnine beauty of British Columbia in a discreetly edited four minute feature. Shot on a Canon C300, Volume 1 pans slowly over scenes ranging from epic mountains to the quiet forest floor. Water takes center-stage in all of its reincarnations: as ominous fog hovering over the forest, whitewater cascading down a tumultuous creek, or as thin waves lapping at a sandy beach. Although Welzel does mix in some audio effects, a good number of shots have only the pure sounds of nature—bird calls, the roar of a waterfall, hollow wind—for a soundtrack. See it all, hear it all – this is British Columbia, (mostly) uncut.
