Na Pali, Kaua'i

A trail back in time

By: @threeifbysea Nainoa Makana Kapono + Save to a List

At the end of the two lane road heading towards the North shore of Kaua'i, lies Ke'e beach. A beautiful stretch of white sand beach, lined with tropical coconut trees and and overgrown Hawaiian jungle. The trail to Hanakapi'ai Beach and Falls begins where this road ends.

Two miles along the twisting Kaua'i coastline you'll find Hanakapi'ai Beach. A hidden beach that seems to have been locked away in a perfectly preserved time-capsule. Tucked in between the ridges of two mountains, a river meets the white sand beach creating a beautiful tidepool. The beauty of it all will lure you into the turquoise waters, however be extremely cautious. The waves and current are very strong, and nothing to take lightly.

After crossing the river, another path will lead you up the valley two more miles, to find yourself standing among Giants. A three hundred foot waterfall lies hidden away deep in the Kaua'i jungle, waiting for you to swim in the pool below.
