The Joe Johnston Route Trail is for moderate to advanced hikers.

The trail is accessible year round, and offers the chance for wildflower viewing in the spring. The route is 9.1 miles out and back, and remains relatively flat throughout the duration of the trail. This trail is just outside of San Antonio. The amount of foot traffic has increased on the trail due to a recent discovery of dinosaur footprints.
