Mesquite OHV Trail Network

Mesquite, Texas

Description

Added by Emily Schrick

Stretching between the desert towns of Mesquite and Caliente, the Mesquite-Caliente OHV Trail Network offers an expansive off-road experience through some of Nevada’s most iconic high-desert terrain.

This rugged route winds over rocky ridges, open washes, and sandy stretches, providing all with a full day of adventure.

Trail Type: Linear OHV route with multiple connecting sections. Surface: Dirt, gravel, sand, and rock. Difficulty: Moderate to challenging, depending on conditions and vehicle. Best Time to Visit: Fall through spring for cooler off-roading weather.

This isn’t a polished scenic byway - it’s classic Nevada backcountry. The route threads through varied terrain, from wide-open desert basins to tighter, rockier corridors. Riders and drivers on dirt bikes, ATVs, side-by-sides, and dual-sport bikes will find a mix of technical sections and smoother stretches that keep the journey engaging from start to finish.

Because the trail isn’t signed at every turn, navigation and preparation are part of the adventure. Don't count on cell service, bring a detailed paper map or GPS, check your tires and gear before you roll, and be ready for changing conditions.

Hours of Use: Open daily: sunrise to sunset.
Parking and Facilities: Trail access can be found at several points along the corridor; facilities are minimal, so plan to be self-sufficient.
Permits & Fees: No permits or fees required for trail use.
Are Dogs Allowed: Yes, but keep them secured and consider the heat and terrain.

What to Bring:
- Ample water and sun protection
- A full tank of fuel and a spare tire
- Navigation tools (GPS or paper maps)
- Basic tool kit and emergency supplies
- Snacks

When visiting, please follow the Dirt Road Code.
