Description

Added by Brian Mister

This National Forest hosts the tallest peak in Texas, Guadalupe Mountain, at 8,700+ft. There are 20 car camping spots with facilities as well as a few back country spots you can hike too.

Camping is just above that mile high line at around 6,000 feet where there are multiple trail heads. The Guadalupe Peak trail takes you to the top of Texas at 8,749 ft at about 8.5 miles round trip. This is a rather difficult hike, but not impossible with the temperature dropping as you rise. The peak features a pyramid of sorts with a locked journal for you to document your hike.
