The Appalachian Trail from Clingman Dome to Cades Cove in Bryson City, Tennessee, is a challenging yet rewarding hike. Spanning approximately 24.46 miles, this section of the trail is characterized by steep inclines and rocky terrain. Hikers will traverse through dense forests of spruce and fir trees, and encounter a variety of wildlife, including black bears and white-tailed deer. The trail's highest point is Clingman Dome, standing at 2,818 feet. From here, hikers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Smoky Mountains. The trail then descends to Cades Cove, a broad valley known for its historic buildings and abundant wildlife. Hikers should be prepared for unpredictable weather and carry sufficient water and food supplies. The trail is well-marked, but a map is recommended for navigation. Camping is permitted in designated areas along the trail. This section of the Appalachian Trail is best hiked from late spring to early fall.
