Kayak/ Paddleboard on Folly Creek

Charleston, South Carolina

Description

Added by Meagan Evans

Folly Creek is located in Folly Beach, SC. and empties out into the Atlantic ocean on each end. There are many different small waterways to explore. This is a great place to see bottle-nose dolphins and shorebirds. There are guided tours available nearby as well around the creek and out to Morris Island Lighthouse!

There are a few different ways to start this adventure! The first is to go to the Folly Beach Public Boat Landing, Folly Beach, SC 29439. That is down Center Street on the right, if you have hit the Folly River Park on the left, you have gone too far. This way is where you would go if you bring your own gear. Going in there, you are kind of on your own but you might want to print out a map of the area so you know which waterways go where. There are many different paths to go. Make sure to pay attention to the tide charts also because it could be easy to go down a path as the tide is going down and you could get stuck!

Coastal Expeditions is one of the companies that can rent out equipment and give tours in the area. Check them out if you would like a guided tour who will teach you about the area and take you down well known pathways.

There are sunset, moon light, day break, low tide, and wildlife tours..or do it on your own! Either way, any time of day can be absolutely fun and beautiful.
