Located a couple miles outside the city of Greenwood, Lake Greenwood offers locals a respite from busy life to come swim, hike, camp, and play.
Lake Greenwood Features only one trail: The 1 mile Greenwood Lake Nature trail. Beginning at the Rec building, following the blue blazes along the trail until you reach the camp sites. The trail can often times be confusing, so make sure you are follow the blue blazes! Personally, I enjoy exploring near the peninsula on the south side of the park near the recreation building and campground #1. There is a small trail close to the boat ramp near the field off to the right next to a picnic table overlooking the lake. It is the perfect spot to set-up your ENO and watch locals waterski or wakeboard along the lake. Swimming is allowed at the lake, but there is no lifeguard on duty so swim at your own risk and away from the boat ramps. The Greenwood Festival of Flowers Triathlon is hosted at the park and the swim portion begins at the terrace at Lake Greenwood, so start there!
Camping on the shoreline of Lake Greenwood is a favorite among a locals. Reservations can be made online in advance, or you can simply make one when you arrive. All 125 camping sites are paved and are perfect for both tent camping and RV’s with restrooms and hot showers located within walking distance. Primitive camping is also available with only a fire pit and picnic table and is ideal for tent/ENO campers. I personally enjoy camp sites 23-35, as those are located along the peninsula, nearest the water, and are not as secluded.
Hint: my favorite get-away campsite is 111 or 112
