Anchors and Top Roping Class

Saratoga, California

Description

Added by Adventure Out

We offer this class 1-2 times per month: Adventure ScheduleLearn the skills and resources to climb on your ownWe'll supply all the climbing gear, but you're welcome to bring your own if you have itDuration: 4 hours of climbing instruction from our expert guides

So you know how to belay, have been climbing a bit, and are ready to learn how to set up your own top ropes so you can start venturing out on your own. This is the class for you! Our goal is to educate you about basic anchor construction for top rope climbing. We emphasize safety and hands on skill practice, getting you one step closer to setting up top ropes safely.

In this 4-hour clinic we will teach and practice the knots and anchor set-ups common for top roping at bay area climbing destinations. You will learn how to set up anchors off of bolts as well as natural features such as trees and boulders. This class often includes some climbing, but the main purpose is to give you the skills and resources to be able to climb on your own.

In order to take this class we strongly encourage you to have climbing experience (either in a gym or outside) and knowledge of basic safety skills (belaying and climber tie-in knots). Your own gear is not required, but bring it if you have it!
