The hike to Grasshopper Mountain is a 14.5 mile trail in Humboldt Redwoods State Park featuring amazing views of the entire park and the surrounding mountains and forests.
This is an incredible, yet difficult, hike that rewards you with unmatched views. In the spring, wildflowers are abundant. Watch for wildlife too! You begin the hike by crossing the Eel River. The bridge is blown down, so you will have to swim or find a shallow portion of the river. Your dedication to crossing the river means you will find solitude on the trail. The trail starts out surrounded by thick redwoods, but the scenery changes to pine trees as you go up. The top of the hike is a great location for a snack, picnic lunch, or midday nap.
