A secret beach that makes you feel like you're far from the busy life of a San Diegan.
The secret cave is only accessible during low tide. Please check the tide charts before venturing out to this one. You will have to pay $10 to enter the Cabrillo National Monument. Upon entering you will stay to the right and follow the signs that will direct you to the tidepools. If you can, park at the second parking lot. Follow the dirt trail on the southern part of the lot. This trail will lead you to the tide pools. To get to the cave, you will have to walk along the cliff heading north. BE CAREFUL. The cliff has caution tape attempting to block people from continuing on because it is very narrow. After passing the narrow part of the cliffs, you will continue on to some loose rocks and a small cove. Again, only accessible during low tide. About 200 meters more, you will see and opening or cave. Make sure you have a flashlight or something that will allow you to see where you are walking because the cave portion is dark. The cave is about 30 feet long and then opens up into the 'secret beach.' Bring a snack, towel and sit back and relax for a bit. Don't stay too long, or you'll be trapped by the tide.
