Photograph Salvation Mountain

Calipatria, California

Description

Added by Joshua Little

Several miles from the Salton Sea lies Salvation Mountain, a painted hill in the Colorado Desert.

Just to be clear, this is not a trek at all. I dropped in on Salvation Mountain while en route to Big Bend National Park after spending some time in Joshua Tree. This is a place that I highly recommend seeing with your own eyes if you ever find yourself that far southeast in California. The mountain itself was built by Leonard Knight out of adobe, straw and lead-based paint to represent his love for God.
