Heads up! There's construction going on at the eastern part of the trail and the main parking lot is closed. But don't worry, you can still get to the trail from the west entrance turning this hike into an out-and-back. For the latest updates, check out the Oregon State Parks website: https://stateparks.oregon.gov/..

Take a short walk to the base of Latourell Falls, where there is a small pool, so you can get up very close. If you want to stretch your legs, take the 2-mile loop to the top of Latourell Falls.

Latourell Falls is a beautiful and unique waterfall in the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. This amazing waterfall is just a few hundred yards from the road and parking lot. Once you park, there is a viewpoint for the falls that is straight ahead.

The view from there isn't that great compared to what you will find if you take the short trail that starts near the bridge and goes to the base of the falls. The trail is really short, only a few hundred yards. You can do some exploring once you reach the falls and go behind the falls if you wish. Latourell Falls has an unusually small pool that it drops into so you can actually walk right up to the edge of the falls for an epic photo op. Be warned though, you will get soaked.

Latourell Falls Loop Reviews

The lower falls are a short jaunt to from the car, easy for a quick trip height of the waterfall makes for the attraction. Rock formations remind me of Iceland.

Keep going there is a stunning 2nd waterfall one of the best waterfalls I have seen in my life ❤️

The lower falls that everyone sees are incredible do to the height, but the hike to upper Latourell falls is so worth it. The falls cascade down for a brief moment then funnel to the left where the water then plummets to a small pool.

Can walk up close to the falls

This waterfall felt like many of the falls in Iceland, with basalt columns and an area you can walk behind. It is stunning. That being said, get here a little after sunrise on a weekday for the best chance at having it to yourself. It can get very crowded on the weekends. And as someone else said: if you're a photographer, bring plenty of lens clothes to keep your glass dry!

This waterfall was gorgeous and everything I hoped for. Being new to the city of Portland and hailing from the East I was anxious to get out of the city and into the woods. With a strain in my foot I wasn't looking for anything big, just, enough to appreciate my new home. I was not disappointed. Highly recommended!
