Awesome beach. Very scenic. Beautiful sunsets. Great for photos. 6 mile (roundtrip) trail along the coast if you're looking for a hike.

Start your adventure by heading to Cannon Beach, Or. Either head west on Highway 26 from Portland, OR. or Highway 101 south from Aberdeen Wa. Plan to arrive at the town a few hours before sunset, the beach stretches a couple miles, and it is awesome to walk along the beach during the day. There is public parking in the town but it does fill up quickly depending on the time of year that you visit.

If you're a photographer like me try to plan where to take your shot of Haystack rock and the Needles. This beach is great for sunset shots!

After the sun has gone down make a fire on the beach, fires are allowed and you'll see a lot of people hanging out on the beach well after the sun has gone down. There are hotels and campsites in the town as well as a few miles away from the town if your looking to stay in the area.

Goonies

Seeing Cannon Beach for the first time if you've seen the Goonies is like visiting Forrest Gump Hill in Monument Valley for moviegoers. It's not just iconic for the movies, but it's truly a wonderful spot to hang out if you can get past the overwhelming number of tourists that visit. Perfect place to start a road trip down the PCH.

Will Definitely Go Again

We had a little trouble finding the narrow stairway down to the beach. It's surrounded by fancy homes and all have no trespassing signs warning away tourists. That being said, next to Smith Rock, Cannon Beach was my second favorite location when we visited Oregon. I loved how dog friendly it was and all of the sand dollars washed up on the shore. Photography-wise you want to make sure you go during the golden hour; it enhances the rocks so much.

Neat views!

Cannon Beach is definitely a gem! Went here on a recent trip to the Oregon Coast and loved it
