Multnomah Falls is one of Oregon's eight wonders, and seeing it during the winter is a dream. You've probably heard of a winter wonderland before.
The best part of Oregon's infrastructure is how accessible the wonders of it are-- especially Multnomah Falls. Regardless of which direction you're driving down the Columbia River Highway near Cascade Locks, take your Multnomah Falls exit and pull into the parking lot, a short walk from the waterfall. Oregon is wonderful; it's where you can enjoy waterfalls without you leaving your car, from the highway.
Although I do hope you pull over and get out of your car, because there is something amazing about Multnomah Falls in the winter. From the base of the waterfall, you can see icy, white water coming off of the second drop, crashing into a snowy creek and freezing over-- all the while, feeling as small as an ant next to the giant waterfall that stands at 620 feet. Generally closed during the winter due to ice, the bridge view is something special during the winter; looking down on Multnomah is jaw dropping. Don't forget to take a camera and maybe even a tripod. The photo opps are real at this time of year.
