Second largest waterfall in OregonShort hikeDiamond Creek trail close by

Right just off Highway-58, past the town of Oakridge there lies the second highest falls in Oregon. This spectacular 286 foot waterfall sends 50,000 gallons of water barreling down every minute.

Once you pass mile marker 57, there will be a sign labeling the Salt Creek Falls Observation point. The day I ventured out to the falls, the road was closed leading to the parking lot so I parked with the other cars along the road. After about 0.4 miles from the gate, you come across what looks like a fork in the road but is actually just a roundabout for the cars in the parking lot. Follow whichever road you wish and you will soon come upon bathrooms and a map of the falls.

There will be two trails, one starting on the left of the bathrooms and one on the right of the map, once again these two lead you to the same upper observation point. After you get your fill of the view from up top you can venture on further down the path for a few hundred meters and you will come upon a dead end, this is the lower observation point.

The beauty and power of this waterfall is unrivaled by most other falls you will come to visit so before snapping hundreds of pictures, please take a moment and fully let the falls captivate you.
