Description

This is a challenging, yet still family-friendly day hike starting right off the Blue Ridge Parkway that'll offer spectacular panoramic views of western North Carolina.
At Blue Ridge Parkway's milepost 407, you will spot a sign for "Mt. Pisgah Parking Area". Enter the parking area, veer left, and park in the rear portion of the lot. There, at the end of the parking area, you will see the large wooden sign for "Mount Pisgah Trail." The well-marked trail is 1.5 miles long one-way and is moderate difficulty, due to the rockiness and steepness (and slippery rocks), especially on the last half-mile of the trail. At the summit, there is an observation deck and antenna tower with spectacular panoramic views of western North Carolina. Do expect fog from time to time though; it is Blue Ridge after all.
