Description

Added by Stephanie Somerville

The most awe-inspiring day hike you can do in New Zealand. It may be a little hard, but most definitely worth it!

The all-encompassing panorama from this 1,578 m summit includes most of Lake Wanaka, the surrounding peaks of the Southern Alps including Mount Aspiring. After crossing through paddocks, the well-graded track continues through alpine tussock to the ridge. In winter there is snow, but the hike can be still be done.

The hike takes 5-6 hours all up and is 16km (10 miles) round trip.
