Hidden Waterfall off Rail Trail with hidden mining tunnel
Located off of the Hudson Valley Rail Trail in Ellenville/Spring Glen NY there is a hidden waterfall a few yards off the trail.
Heading down 209 South toward Spring Glen NY. You will drive about 4 miles past the Sandburg creek.
Turn left onto Old Mountain Road but then take another quick sharp left onto Louis Road. Louis Road is a dead end and it is a residential road. You will head down this road about less than a mile.
Look to your right and you will see the rail trail parallel to the road. In order to find the falls you want to look toward the right and look for a small brook that goes under the road. You may be driving a little under a mile until you see two posts on the side of the road. Pull off to the side of the road and you can see a path that hikers have created. You will see the small brook, the rail trail, as well as an old foot bridge (pictured above).
Across the rail trail you will run into the falls. Under the falls is a tunnel you can walk through from an old mine. You can also climb your way to the top of the falls, be careful as this is a very steep climb!
