Description

Added by Joe Pariso

The Taughannock Falls hike is a beginners hike that is family friendly. There is a well groomed trail that leads to spectacular views of the waterfall. However, plan according to weather, heavy rain or snow can create dangerous trail conditions here.

Starting at the gorge trailhead parking lot, you walk past the first falls of the park which aren't very big but they certainly are beautiful. You continue on the gorge trail for only 3/4 mile, but I promise the trail is very beautiful. As soon as you get close to Taughannock Falls you can hear the mighty rush of the 215 foot drop that makes this the biggest single drop waterfall in New York State. Continuing toward the end of the trail, you will cross a bridge that will bring you to the end, but wear your rain jacket just in case! If the falls are really flowing then you will get wet!
