This easy five mile hike drops you right at lean-to three on the breathtaking Pharaoh Lake. The hike out is beautiful and there is a noticeable scenery change as you approach the lake.
I have been camping at Pharaoh Lake for three years now and every time is better than the last. This route is a new route I tried and is definitely my favorite. You park at the Putnam Pond Campground and from there it is a straight hike to the trail split, and then an extra 3/4 of a mile (roughly) to lean-to three. If you are lucky the lean-to will be open, if not there are five other lean-to's around the lake as well as many primitive campsites. The lake has some BIG fish to catch and you can even hike Pharaoh Mountain if you are feeling ambitious. This is one of my favorite spots in the Adirondacks and I will always love it. I hope you get out there and enjoy it!
