The Franconia Ridge Loop trail in Lincoln, New Hampshire, is a challenging 12.81-mile loop that takes hikers over four peaks: Mount Lafayette, Mount Lincoln, Mount Liberty, and Mount Flume. The trail begins at the Lafayette Place Campground, ascending steadily to the summit of Mount Lafayette. From there, the trail follows the ridge, offering panoramic views of the White Mountains and the Pemigewasset Wilderness. The trail descends to a saddle before climbing again to the summit of Mount Lincoln. The path then continues to Mount Liberty and Mount Flume, with views of the Franconia Notch and the Kinsman Range. The trail is rocky and steep in places, requiring careful footing. The descent from Mount Flume is steep and can be slippery in wet conditions. Hikers should be prepared with sturdy footwear and be mindful of weather conditions. Despite its difficulty, the Franconia Ridge Loop trail offers rewarding views and a sense of accomplishment for those who complete it.
