-Big Gorges-Waterfalls everywhere-Cool wooden walkways in the gorge
Right off of exit 34A on rt. 93 in New Hampshire there is an awesome place called the Flume Gorge. Just 2 hours from Boston this is a great day hike/activity that will only take you a few hours (depending on how many pictures you want to take).
An easy walk through the woods and under a classic New England red covered bridge and all of a sudden you're between the walls of a big 100 foot deep gorge with waterfalls and a nice wooden walkway to enjoy the view from. After you exit the gorge a simple wide path loops about .7 miles through the woods to one more covered foot bridge over a few more waterfalls and a big deep pool that has some great viewing points.
There are a few surrounding towns with good eats but if you're in the mood for more views I suggest driving one of Americas oldest scenic byways the Kancamagus highway (NH rt. 112) over to North Conway for some great food and local beer!
