Very beautiful lake to camp along the shoreline in many to choose from campgrounds. Great fishing lake and water sport lake!
Stockton Lake is located about an hour north west of Springfield, MO. Stockton lake covers 39 square miles with 298 miles of shoreline. There are many campgrounds to choose from around the lake. My favorite one personally is East Rurark Bluff, which is located on the southern west fork of Stockton Lake. The friendly and pretty town of Stockton is on the northern part of the lake west of the dam site which offers a couple of grocery stores, sporting goods stores, fast food restaurants and conveince stores. Stockton Lake is a wonderful fishing lake that is full of any kind of fish for any kind of fisherman. Crappie, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, white bass, catfish, and perch. All with abundant populations. There is core of engineer land all the way around the lake and also Missouri Department of Conservation land on the the southern halves of the lake that provide exceptional deer and turkey hunting. There are some hiking trails on the north end of the lake at the dam site and a few more around the lake. The lake offers great kayaking and also water sport activities can be enjoyed in the bigger part of Stockton Lake.
