The Kennedy Cliff and Sawmill Dome trail is a part of the Superior Hiking Trail in Silver Bay, Minnesota. This trail is a moderate difficulty level, spanning approximately 3.78 miles round trip. It is known for its unique geological features, including the Kennedy Cliff and Sawmill Dome, which are large rock formations offering panoramic views of the surrounding area. The trail begins with a steady incline, leading to the Kennedy Cliff. Here, hikers can enjoy a wide view of the forested landscape and distant Lake Superior. The trail then continues to the Sawmill Dome, a large rock dome that provides a 360-degree view of the surrounding area, including the Baptism River and the Sawmill Creek. Hikers are advised to wear sturdy shoes due to the rocky terrain and to bring water and snacks as there are no facilities along the trail. The best time to hike this trail is from late spring to early fall, when the weather is mild and the trail is free of snow. This trail is not recommended for beginners due to its length and moderate difficulty level.
