Hike to Tahquamenon Falls
The waterfall is only a short stroll from the parking lot but is well worth the stop. It drops over 50ft and is 200ft wide. A stunning, powerful flow. The obvious 'Rootbeer' color comes from tannic acid produced by decaying hemlocks, cedars, and spruces along the river's banks. There are various view points and a small observation deck above the falls. Don't be shocked if you spot a bear or a f...

The tour itself (led by a NPS ranger I believe) was just ok, but it was still interesting. The views at the top of the lighthouse make this a worthy $3 and hour visit!
This lighthouse was built in 1873-1874 and sta...

Straits State Park is located on the upper peninsula of Michigan and is minutes from the Mackinac Bridge. Named after the straits that pass through the two peninsulas, this state park offers gorgeous views of the bridge at night.
From the campground, head just a few feet towards the beach on the shores of the straits and you will see the Mackinac Bridge in the distance. Grab your tripod and ge...
