This easy 1.8 mile hike is beautiful right after it rains. The hills are green, the hike is pleasant (perfect for an afternoon lull after a big lunch), and best of all, there's a cow to pose photos with at the top! Photos are shown for you to see.
Islay Hill is part of the Seven Sisters in San Luis Obispo County. It is an easy, but scenic hike and worthy of an afternoon just for the views. You can find the trailhead in a residential area at the end of Sweet Bay Lane in San Luis Obispo. There is plenty of parking along the street (one side does not have homes) and around the dead end of Sweet Bay Lane. The elevation at the start of the trailhead is 226'. The peak of Islay Hill is at 776', with an easy elevation gain of 550 feet. The trailhead is covered in sagebrush and is well maintained. Be aware of one thing: there are ebony and ivory cows meandering around the hill and trails. They most likely will run from you; so there really isn't any danger. Just be aware.
