Parks in Downtown Los Angeles are a rare find, but Elysian Park is a hidden gem and an underrated park. The secret swing is a perfect spot to take pictures, have a picnic and swing over the 110 freeway.

For the most direct directions to the swing, plug in "Swing on top of Elysian Park" into google maps, which will take you directly to the trailhead. If you want to do it the more old fashion way, the swing is on top of a hill at the intersection of Angels Point Drive and Park Row Drive in Elysian Park. There is a turn out with about 5 parking spots on Angels Point Drive. Park there, and the trail will be directly in front of you!

The trail is pretty steep but incredibly short, and really only takes about 5 minutes to get to the top. Make sure you are wearing sturdy shoes, as the trail is steep and can be pretty slippery.

I have been there numerous times, and have always been the only group there, many people do not know that this exists! This is also a perfect overlook for those clear days after the rain. However, if you are looking for serenity, this is probably not the place for you as it smack in the middle of DTLA, overlooking the 101.

Secret Swing in Elysian Park Reviews

This was a super cool spot! The view of Los Angeles was beautiful! There was actually quite a few people up there already, however it was spring break. My sister and I accidentally took the hard way up. But other than that it was an easy hike.

A lot of reviews say the swing is no more, but I hiked here on 9/30/18 and it exists now! The sunsets are amazing, and there’s some cool graffiti in the area. Bring a trash bag to help pick up some litter if you’re feeling generous!

The views are nice. Unfortunately, the swing was removed. Still a place that you should visit for the scenery.

Went there recently with my girlfriend. No one was there! It was around sunset and enjoyed the spot. The swing is on a little log but it's really cool! Highly recommend it for a little sunset adventure.
