Trailside Camp At Greenhill

Conway, Massachusetts

A peaceful campsite in private wooded area to immerse yourself in nature!

Greenhill is 48 acres of fields and woods - a beautiful place to unwind after a day of exploring the amazing wealth of activities in the surrounding area. Within a half hour drive are miles of hiking trails and biking routes, waterfalls, swimming in lakes and rivers, trout fishing, tubing, float trips, canoeing, kayaking, and whitewater rafting. Seven miles up the road is the picturesque village of Ashfield. Next door to the pizza place is a small gem of a real old-fashioned hardware store, complete with a wood stove and rocking chairs. It is crammed with everything you might need for country life, from nuts and bolts to birdseed, rubber boots, and $1 ice cream cones for the kids (only four flavors, but who cares!). On a hot summer day, avoid the “crowd” at the lakeside beach and head deep into the countryside to Chapel Falls, an off-the-beaten-track series of waterfalls with pools to lounge in. Dry off and walk across the back road to watch rock climbers navigating the cliffs. You can spend another whole day - or two or three - exploring the nearby Connecticut River Valley, just 15 minutes from Greenhill. Glacial potholes, Historic Deerfield, lots of farmstands, two zip line places, a butterfly conservatory, and the huge Yankee Candle mothership store are less than 30 minutes away. With more local bookstores than any other area in the country, book browsing is a recreational sport around here. Children’s activities abound and the area’s five major colleges (Amherst College, Hampshire College, the University of Massachusetts, Mount Holyoke College, and Smith College) provide a weekly smorgasbord of events. Take advantage of all the nearby activities, read a book in a hammock in the woods, de-stress in your private forest therapy spot by a trickling stream deep in the forest, or explore our beautiful property with your camera, sketchbook, or field guides. With so many farms, the foodie business in this area is huge and restaurants serving local produce are common. Name an ethnicity or a kind of food and chances are there will be at least one restaurant serving that food somewhere in the area. Whether you prefer to cook your own food with fresh produce from local farmstands or want to eat out, you will have plenty of options. We have a fully equipped kitchen in our lodge which you are free to use, so you needn’t be limited to campfire cooking.
