Straw Bale Farmhouse
San Diego, California
Artistic cottage nestled in a family farm with access to almost 2000 natural acres. A charming place to relax, have peace, enjoy the beauty of nature & animals in a secure & private property. Close to the Pacific Ocean.
This unique ecological cottage has a kitchen, fireplace, private bath area, private south facing patio and access to fresh garden food.
Bring a moderate sense of adventure, a taste for Glamcamping and an ecological awareness. Wake up to the smell of fresh air, nature & beautiful views. Feel like you are in the country with birds singing, artistic environment and yet close to all retail stores and restaurants. You will feel very safe & private here. This is truly a place to relax and explore the area. The farm is gated for privacy and security. The area is like a wildlife sanctuary. We are located on the south side of Arroyo Sorrento Road and the nearest major cross street is Carmel Valley Road and El Camino Real.
You have access to over 2000 natural acres adjacent to the farm for walks and the Strawbale House for staying in. We live on the property in a separate home and are available if you have requests or needs.
You have your private access to the guest house where you can come or go as you please. Please park your car not blocking vehicles in front of the cottage. 24 hr notice if you'd like to use the bread/pizza oven. You will be given the gate code to the security gate when you book. Go up the long driveway to the top of the bluff, go down the little road to the Strawbale House on the left. It will be open and ready for you. If you need assistance, please call the cell number given when you confirm your reservation.
This unique and comfortable cottage is recommended for people with a love of the outdoors and nature. The bath facilities are adjacent to the cottage with an outdoor bath and composting toilet in complete privacy. This will be a new experience for some, however, it's practical, odorless, and helps the environment. Water is expensive and we ask guests to be very conservative in use. The outdoor bath's water is for some trees and that's good. There are no other inhabited (people) dwellings nearby (well, except for the sweet goats but they're not too close). The south-facing patio is surrounded by fencing and trees and shrubs (one of the hummingbird's favorite housing units). There is parking for one car only and we recommend using Uber if appropriate. compact parking requested. Some pets will be considered however will need supervision as we are next to a nature preserve.
