Escaping into the Woods

A hammock, a good book, and sunshine, it doesn't get much better than that.

By: Kalli Hawkins + Save to a List

Escaping into the outdoors is a must for me. I, as well as everyone else can easily get caught up in the day-to-day grind of work, bills, and adult responsibilities. I find myself getting stressed out and the best way for me to decompress is to escape into the outdoors for as long as I possibly can. Immediately as I begin to see the mountains on the horizon, or as I reach a trailhead all my worries begin to fade away. A few weeks ago, I was feeling overwhelmed about my school workload as well as my full work schedule and I decided to take the first half of my day, grab a good book, my hammock, my dog and escape into the woods for a few hours. I picked a spot where I had the sun shining on my face, a good view of the forest, and ample room to swing freely from my hammock. It sure didn't take long before I was feeling rejuvenated.
