Outdoors in style

When I was younger it was all about roughing it with as little as possible. My last trip was about being in the outdoors while in the lap of luxury. I liked that more.

When I was younger I loved going backpacking. It was one of my biggest passions and I did it almost every weekend.

Back then it was all about being butch. Bringing as little as possible and surviving. I was never comfortable, but I was typically pretty happy despite the situations I found myself in.  I would take a knife, some beef jerky and trail snacks, and something to purify water and that would be all I needed.

It was nice. I could pack in about 10 minutes and be backpacking on a whim virtually any time I wanted.

Last week I went camping again after a pretty long hiatus. What can I say, life gets busy.

This time I decided to try the reverse. I thought for a few hours about everything I might possibly need while camping by a lake and made a lot of purchases. Spent a lot of time on Google searching for things like "outdoors items everyone needs". One site showed me a Yeti Cooler. I had never even heard of that, or even thought of it.

By the time I was done shopping and had arrived at the lake I was set to live in the lap of luxury. I literally had margaritas in the cooler, which was playing some of my favorite tunes (yes, the cooler was playing the tunes).

I had a camp chair that rivaled a kings throne and I had far more food than I could possibly eat. And none of that gross stuff either. This was high-quality meat and was ready for a high-quality barbecue.

The best part was that the entire time I was up in the mountains I was actually making money. You see, earlier in my life I had gotten involved with trading (everyone though I was so sketchy). In reality I was able to set up a beautiful passive income using managed trading accounts where they basically took the money I had made at my job and used it to make more.

Making money. Fishing. Being outside. Eating good. Life couldn't be better.

The lake was called Fish Lake, it is in central Utah and is a lake I have been going to with my family for years.

Anyway, the entire point of this story is that I decided camping doesn't have to be a butch experience. I loved it AND I was comfortable the entire time.
