Outdoor adventure loving mom of 3 amazing kids and wife to the best husband a girl could ask for. We sold everything in 2013 to travel the United States in our Airstream travel trailer. We bike, hike, backpack, and love to explore new places as a family.

Highlands Hammock is a gorgeous state park. We camped for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The large trees are spectacular and we loved looking at the wildlife. This trail, in particular was very stunning!

This is definitely a scramble once you get past the "bowling alley". The path is marked well with blazes, but its definitely a work out to get to the top! The view is worth it. We left at about 5:30am to hike to the top and are glad we did because it was SO busy with people coming UP while we were heading DOWN. My suggestion is to drag yourself out of bed and get it done!

Still not sure why we left the main trail, but we took a smaller single track spur and ended up pleasantly wandering around for a while. Finally made it back to the trail and up to the lake. We had 6 kids ages 13 months to 10 years and they all did great!

We stopped here just before crossing into Canada on our Circle Tour of Lake Superior. Great, easy hike and breathtaking falls. Its easy to see why the Voyageurs had to portgage around this section of the Pigeon River back in the early 19th century as these falls and the cliffs surrounding them are pretty steep!

Not our favorite hike ever, but it did get us away from the crowds. We hiked the Superior Hiking Trail on the way up, and the snowshoe (?) trail on the way day. Their maps are not the greatest!! The falls were beautiful and my kids had fun playing in the foam generated by the water rushing over the rocks.

This was one of our favorite places to mountain bike! My husband and I talked some of the more advanced routes, while our two oldest kids had fun bombing down Kessell Run. Absolutely awesome!

We hiked all 10 miles with our kids ages 9, 7, & 4. They did fantastic and we loved seeing all the waterfalls and comparing them. We also stayed at the campground which was very nice!
