An hour from the seaand a short walk from heaven
An incredible hikein a magical place, not far from civilization.
The Navette forestis located between the provinces of Cuneo and Imperia and northborders on France. It stretches 11mi^2.
The name arose fromthe fact that his trees were used to build the typical Ligurian ships(called “Nave”). These places are silent witnesses of what wasthe World War II.
It is not difficultto come across ruins, weapons or objects of great historical value.
Today these placesare home to numerous animal species, if you are lucky you can spotchamois, deer, beavers, fox, owls, wolves and many other diurnal andnocturnal animals.
The forest is alsoeasily reached by car from many places, (Monesi di Triora, Piaggia,Upega and Le Salse)
It is cut in half bya former military road, almost all flat, combining the ski resortMonesi di Triora to Limone Piemonte. The cost of the toll for cars is15 € and the distance is about 70 km, all on dirt road.
The extension ataltitude varies between 1400m to 2400m above sea level.
The main peaks areMount Bertrand and Missoun, summit from which you can enjoyincredible views stretching from the Alps to the sea.
The best times toventure into the forest (on the road or between the variouswell-marked trails) are spring and autumn given the beautiful daysand the wonderful colors that the forest offers.
Venturing throughthe paths we often come across ponds, waterfalls and streams withrefreshing water pools.
Use of mountainbikes is permitted (and recommended) to move in speed and be able tocalmly explore the woods in a few hours.
In winter you canreach the area with alpine ski or snowshoeing,
For those who want,at the resort Monesi di Triora it is also possible to ski with twoski lifts, in the days of powder, freeriding is guaranteed!
With snow, theseendless valleys become a rare and unique beauty.
