Hike through the streams of Ledges State Park
Boone, Iowa
Description
Added by Katie Eichelberger
Find adventure in Iowa at Ledges State Park. Walk through the streams of Pea Creek carved out through the sandstone gorge or hike the multiple trails throughout the park.
The concrete drive into the park is one-way and the streams flow over the roadway so be prepared to drive through water. Water shoes or sandals are a must if you want to get the complete adventure package at Ledges. There are multiple parking areas throughout the park, but remember it is one way, so if you don't find a spot you will need to circle back around to the entrance. The trail heads are accessible from all parking lots with minimal walking. The map doesn't give a great representation of each trail so it's best to wander around. Camp nearby in either the Ledges State Park campground or hike-in camping areas. This park is very family friendly and most enjoy playing in the streams and water areas, while groups of young people can hike and adventure through the trails. This trip is great for all ages and levels of difficulty.
