Hike Tubb's Hill
Idaho › Tubbs Hill Trail
Added by Taylor Nadauld
- Distance: 2 mile loop
- Duration: 30 minutes
- Elevation gain: 295 ft
- Great trail for any level of hiker
- Late May/early June brings beautiful, bright yellow flowers all over the hill
- Tons of beautiful, secluded beach spots to swim or enjoy the view
- A few options for hiking, including a short, moderately strenous hike up the face of the hill, and much easier hikes around the loop of the hill
- Changing views around every corner, including the infamous Lake Coeur d'Alene which accompanies you for most of the hike
- A photographer's dream
The trail begins at the base of Tubb's Hill, located just on the outskirts of the Coeur d'Alene Resort. There is usually a fair amount of people on the trail come good weather, though the hike is secluded, quiet, and relaxing for the most part.
It begins with a gradual climb, and depending on which route you take, and is either bottoms out for nearly the rest of the way, or becomes much steeper as you ascend the face. The more popular loop route takes you on a walk beside the lake, starting with a few steps over some boulders.
The scene eventually pulls you away from the lake and into a cooler, secluded forest, though it is still clearly marked. You'll cross a wooden hanging bridge. Eventually the trail leads to a road, which you cross, and in a few minutes you're back to where you started at the base of the hill in the heart of the city, once more.
