Deep in the heart of the largest unbroken wilderness in the lower 48 states, the Middle Fork of the Salmon River carves its swath through the Boise, Salmon-Challis, and Payette National Forests.No dams temper its flow. Whether it’s your first time on a river, or you are a skilled oarsman yourself, you will feel your worldly concerns melting away with each bouncing rapid and every tranquil lull.

Middle Fork rapids are rated Class 1-3 (4 in June) on a scale of 1-6. An average drop of 27 feet per mile and over 100 rapids with the aid of experienced, professional, licensed guides. Typically a 6 day, world-class guided whitewater rafting and/or fly fishing adventure. You can soak in riverside hot springs and eat gourmet river cuisine. Oar-powered rafts, inflatable kayaks, paddle rafts, and stand up paddle boards (SUP) usually available. Your licensed, professional river guides should be first aid and swift-water rescue certified in Idaho.
River Requirements: Minimum age is 12 years or older in June, and at least 6 years July through September. Your outfitter will supply everything (tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pad, and dry bags.) You just bring your personal items.
