Hiking the Leleiwi Overlook Trail

I hesitate to even list this as a "hike" because it's really just a short walk, but it is on an officially named trail. This is a nice overlook to stop at it and do the short walk to the scenic viewpoint over the valley, as it's not as crowded as the next overlooks.

Total time: 10-15 minutes

The trail is clear and you're walking over some rocks but it's very easy. Negligible elevation gain. There's a covered viewing area at the end with some information on plaques about what you're looking at.

This isn't a good spot to watch the sunset from as the sun will set behind the volcano behind you so you won't see it. It may be a good, less crowded option for sunrise though.

There is a small parking lot right at the trailhead, at the Leleiwi Overlook. You'll have to dash across the road to get to the trailhead from the parking lot. Just be careful that no cars are coming - It's on a hairpin turn so you may not be able to see them until they're close.

No bathrooms here - You'll have to drive a little farther up the mountain to the Visitors Center for those, but the ones there are nice and clean!
