Expert Summer Hiker

Summer hiking is no sweat!

By: Han Phan + Save to a List

I'm lucky enough to not have as many sweat glands as the normal person; that's why hiking in the summer, under the blistering heat in the middle of the day has never been an issue for me. I bask in the torrid summertime afternoons and thrive in the fevered daytime.  Utah is the Mecca of all things hot, heated, and exquisite.

The switchbacks are omnipresent throughout Bryce Canyon National Park, but that doesn't deter anyone, not even the less avid hikes in flip-flops or high heels.  It's a rather terrific place for nature enthusiasts and is still a site to see for those less inclined to spend too long outside.

Orange is also a favourite hue throughout the park (and the rest of the state).  Weathering from the intensified sun only brightens the tones and there is a cascade of shades of orange on every hoodoo structure.  It's gorgeous, and if you can brave sun burn and dry lips, please go to Utah.

We want to acknowledge and thank the past, present, and future generations of all Native Nations and Indigenous Peoples whose ancestral lands we travel, explore, and play on. Always practice Leave No Trace ethics on your adventures and follow local regulations. Please explore responsibly!

Do you love the outdoors?

Yep, us too. That's why we send you the best local adventures, stories, and expert advice, right to your inbox.
