Exploring the Aosta Valley, amazing trip.

Not thinking too much, try and then thinks.A journey through the Alps, a crazy path that connects the Aosta Valley.A unique experience to discover themselves

By: Gianluca Parola + Save to a List

A travel that begins far away, it was 2013 when on a cold summer night I had the misfortune to see the death of a young Chinese guy on the hill de la Crosatie(2900m), I lived with that pain for 3 years, it was time to return to the hell and face that memory.

Part from here my path.

A plaque and a beautiful written to remember it, wonderful day and spectacular views. We are in heaven, not in hell!

8 days walk on the paths of the famous race of endurance trail "Tor Des Geants"
330 km, 24000m D +. these scary data of what lies ahead.
A tent, a backpack and some hot parts for cold nights that await me.
It starts, always accompanied by Niyol, my wolfdog.

Peace, serenity and good people, these are the watchwords of the valley.

A single trail (well signposted) leading from Courmayeur in Courmayeur, but turning every corner of the Valley!
They are called "Altavia1 and Altavia2" the two long paths that come together to create a loop that runs along the geographical boundary.

Day 1:
Courmayeur - Planaval (43km)

The first 4 mountains to deal with, relatively cool and rest legs, sun is so hot!
The night comes quickly and is already time to rest a few hours.

Day 2:

Planaval - Cogne (60km)

Moonscape between stones and crevasses. Every well-considered step, is often found at high altitude snow and wind. Beautiful the Loson pass (3299m)

Day 3:

Cogne - Donnas (48 km)

Is less demanding, Donnas is located at 330 m, another beautiful day at the end of which I can finally embrace my friend Paul, friends rides and beers :)

Day 4:

Relaxing days in the countryside.
By car to Cervinia to admire the beautiful blue lake and a beautiful cave at the foot of Mount Cervino, unique experience of its kind!

Day 5:

Niel - Gressoney (25km)
one climb, one descent ... Incredible!
People arrive in zombie mode, fatigue and hunger are felt.
I spend the night in the car while I watch the runners of the Tor Des Geants. GIANTS!

Day 6:

Gressoney - Valtournenche (34 km)
Total change of scenery, thick forests and lush vegetation have the better, it seems to be at home <3

Day 7:

Valtournenche- Courmayeur
to my misfortune I had to skip the basic life of Ollomont. It's already Friday, a friend of mine is getting married tomorrow , i will go home with a great desire to stay here.

It is a journey to do alone, accompanied by wind and stars. Day and night you're never alone, try it!

< I recommend this trip to experienced people, often the conditions at a height may also be prohibitive in the summer, temperatures can fall dramatically in a short time. and it's possible find the snow.>

always remember:

"the climb is tough but from the top, the landscape is fantastic"
