Description

Beautiful Environment, Secluded, Peaceful, Easy Hike, Little Light Pollution, Gorgeous Sunset/Sunrise
Upon arriving at Saint Marys, Georgia, we made our way onto the ferry to get to the Island. The crew was nice and the ride was beautiful. When we got to the island, we were briefed by park rangers where our campsite assignments were and a few rules. We then began our 3.9 mile hike on the Parallel trail to our campsite (Stafford). Our campsite was located close to the beach so we made our way to the coast explored the beach. We saw armadillos and horses along the way. As night fell, we made a fire and relaxed under the stars on the beach. We then set up our hammocks and slept (No tent needed). The night was peaceful with the occasional noise in the woods. We then woke up promptly at 6:30 am to see the sun rise on the beach which was beautiful. We then hiked back to get on the ferry and return home.
