Volunteer at Pelican Harbor Seabird Station
Miami, Florida
Description
Added by Alanna Murphy
Spend the day along the water, in beautiful, sunny, Miami, helping out with a great organization that is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick, injured or orphaned brown pelicans, seabirds and other native wildlife.
Open from 9am til 6pm on weekdays (5pm on weekends), the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station is open to the public. Take a guided tour or contact them about volunteering. They are always in need of extra help and volunteering is a great way to spend a day.
I volunteered every week for about a month and it was really interesting getting to know all the birds and their different personalities. Pelican Harbor Seabird Station also accepts other injured wildlife including mammals and reptiles. If you enjoy the outdoors and the ocean, and have a love for animals, it is definitely worth checking out Pelican Harbor.
