Port Saint Joe, Florida
Description
Added by Kelley Le
A small, sleepy town for lovers of the quiet outdoors.
Port Saint Joe is nestled on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico in St. Joseph Bay, just an hour away from Panama City and the Apalachicola National Forest.
There isn't a large number of people here, since it's not considered a very touristy town. However, it's a great place to explore the outdoors and grub on some local seafood.
Some outdoor adventures to do in Port St. Joe:* Bring your own kayak or rent one at Seahorse Water Safaris on Marina Drive and kayak around St. Joseph Bay where you can find and photograph (or simply enjoy) various birds, horseshoe crab, hermit crabs, clams, and more. You can also snorkel around and park your kayak at sand dunes near the shore of the bay.* Take a stroll along the BayWalk, a 0.7 mile gravel trail along the shores of St. Joseph Bay. There is a gazebo over the water along this trail that is great for relaxing and viewing the sunset.* Visit the Cape San Blas lighthouse tower on Miss Zola's Drive and climb to the top during their open hours* Walk and fish at Jetty Park pier* Photograph local wildlife all around the city and by the bay, such as heron, pelicans, seagulls, and more.* Drive to nearby St. Joseph Peninsula State Park to hike/camp
Some local grub and neat stores:* Munch on baked oysters at Dockside Cafe* Order a delicious and special pizza at Joe Mama's Wood Fired Pizza* Listen to live music and grab some drinks at the Thirsty Goat* Purchase neat seaside artwork such as jellyfish succulents at Coastal Cabin* Order fresh hot coffee or a frozen chai latte at Bin 4Eleven* Enjoy great priced, delicious margaritas at Pepper's mexican restaurant
