High Bridge

Don't look down!

By: Emma Simone + Save to a List

High Bridge is the bridge located on State Road connecting Akron and Cuyahoga Falls.

Since about 2011, it's been on my bucket list to climb it to the walk way above. All of my friends would do it, and I'd always watch, absolutely horrified of falling.

Then one summer day, a girl friend of mine talked me through the climb while I was battling a bit of anxiety. It has always been an image I wanted to keep in my memory, especially in the Fall.

In late October, I hiked Babb Run up to High Bridge and climbed up - it was a lot easier than that hot summer day.  Getting down was a breeze as well.

It's very dangerous and that is something I came to accept, and if I got hurt I'd have no one to blame but myself. But the view is breath taking. For me, at least. Once you get up there and begin to walk towards the other end, you can turn left or right and the walk way extends out under the bridge a bit. It calls for beautiful photos and wonderful memories/achievement.

I don't suggest anyone climb this bridge, if so, accept the risk. But I get a thrill knowing that I accomplished a goal that was held back by fear. Done with confidence and carefully, it's less intimidating. I love living life on the edge sometimes because it reminds me that I am alive.
