Pennsylvania Mountain Southeast Ridge Trail, located in Leadville, Colorado, is a moderately challenging hiking trail. The trail spans approximately 4.63 miles round trip, with an elevation gain of 1,506 feet. The trailhead begins at an altitude of 11,250 feet, culminating at the summit of Pennsylvania Mountain at 13,006 feet. The trail is characterized by a steady incline, with the steepest sections near the summit. The path is well-marked and primarily composed of dirt and rocks. Hikers should be prepared for potential snow patches, even in summer months. The trail offers a variety of natural features. Hikers will pass through a dense forest of spruce and fir trees at lower elevations, transitioning to alpine tundra as they ascend. The trail also features a small creek crossing. At the summit, hikers are rewarded with panoramic views of the Mosquito Range and the Continental Divide. Hikers should be aware of the potential for altitude sickness due to the high elevation. It is recommended to acclimate to the altitude before attempting this hike. The trail is best hiked from June to October, and dogs are allowed but must be kept on leash.

Climb Horseshoe Mountain via Boudoir Couloir
Horseshoe Mountain is a peak that is ranked in the top 100 tallest peaks in Colorado at 13,898 feet, and it can be done in the summer but is arguably more fun in the spring as a snow climb. Avalanche safety, snow climbing, and snow safety experience is necessary.

Hike Mount Sherman
A mile South of Fairplay, turn West onto 4 Mile Creek Road (dirt) and follow it for about 8 miles. The road passes a number of excellent camping spots and finally ends at the ruins of an old mine. Parking is available about a quarter mile from the mining area. Don't park at the gate as its possible you will get towed.
Hike from the parking area at 12,000 feet through the ruins of the old mine. ...
Stay the Night in an Off-Grid Cabin in Fairplay, CO
This will be an amazing experience for anyone that books this cabin, guaranteed. It's the perfect size with a kitchen, living room, bunk beds, and back porch. In addition to the main house there is a tree house that has a couch and a bed in it as well; so the property can host a decent sized group. It's very primitive living so it would be best to have some off-the-grid knowledge, like chopping...
Discover Ancient Trees on Windy Ridge
The Windy Ridge Bristlecone Pine Scenic Area is a remote stand of trees off a 4WD road near Alma, Colorado. This grove of bristlecone pines was given protected status in 1964 due to its uniquely shaped trees influenced by the winds blasting off nearby 14er, Mount Bross. The area sits at 11,700 ft. and is only accessible by vehicle in the summer after winter's snow has melted. A high-clearanc...

Find your way to the Kite Lake trailhead near Alma, Colorado. The road up to the trailhead is suitable for most vehicles, if you have a low-clearance vehicle I would advise parking about half a mile from the trailhead.
