Radium Hot Springs
The Parking Area & Trailhead have been updated by the BLM from the previous starting point at Mugrage Campground, which is no longer open.
The BLM has also built a relatively short and easy trail from the new parking area to the hot springs. The springs are not too hot, about 80-90 degree F as they mix slightly with the cool Colorado River that flows adjacent to the spring.

Camp at Radium Campground
This was a rafting/camping trip. We camped at the Radium Campground and rafted 4.5 miles from Pump House Boat Launch. BLM charges $5.00 per vehicle at the boat launch sites and $10.00 per night for camping.Keep an eye out for big horn sheep. I saw them grazing on the side of the colorado river. You can rent rafts from Colorado River Center at Ranch Del Rio.Side Note: Glow in the dark bocce ball ...
Camp at Wolford Mountain Reservoir
If a nice relaxing adventure is what you seek, this is the place for you. There aren't a lot of super scenic, adrenaline pumping hikes at this campground, but there are well established campsites with beautiful sunrise and sunset views. If you're a photographer, the midnight sky on a moonless night is a dream come true. The fish are biting year round, so whether you're there to ice fish in the ...
Camp Near Little Muddy Creek, Routt National Forest
If you are looking to get away from the crowds then this is the site for you. Located in the Routt National Forest, this spot offers everything from a seasonal lake (I went out of season) to free range sheep.Because of all the aspen trees, this place will be glowing with color in the fall. You will need a high profile vehicle to make it back there easily (I'm sure a Subaru could make it with so...
Hike Cataract Lake and Falls
My husband and I heard about this hike while we were at a marriage retreat in nearby Dillon. This is the perfect casual day hike for a couple, small groups, or families with children. While we were there in May, just before the aspens were fully leafed out, it was easy to see that this location will be absolutely stunning in the fall. Summer is a good time to see wildflowers and wildlife. Thoug...
Snowshoe or Ski Rabbit Ears Pass
Rabbit Ears Pass outside of Steamboat Springs is packed with winter nordic trails. Most trails are marked and accommodate cross-country skiing or snowshoeing; to be courteous to other users keep snowshoes and dogs off ski tracks. Depending on how much recent snow there has been, the trails can be packed snow or completely fresh. The most popular trail is the West Summit Loop 1A, located 13 mil...
