Betasso is a great local ride near Boulder – as one of the closest bike-friendly trails to town, it is an extremely popular riding area. Riders often ride to the trail from town, rather than drive to the trailhead.

Hikers have the trails to themselves on Wednesdays and Saturdays, when the trails are closed to bikers. Otherwise, the main loops are directional, which helps manage the large amount of traffic on the trail.

The riding is not terribly technical, although there are some rocky sections and fast flowy sections to keep more advanced riders engaged. It may not be a friendly trail for brand new riders, but less skilled riders can manage pretty well here, and you are never too far from the trailhead.
